My family is big into showing pigs at the county fair. About a month before the fair, they get the pigs out each night and walk them around the "big lot" (about an acre of yard). This helps them build muscle, but also teaches them how to walk when being shown at the fair. Since Julia decided that she wanted to show a pig in the open show, she needs to help with this process and learn how to walk a pig properly.
First you have to wash them to make them all clean. (You can see it is a real family affair.)
Then my dad tried to teach Julia how to properly walk a pig.
Julia enjoyed walking the pigs.
Uncle Bill gave her some tips too.
The pigs actually really enjoy this whole process. The sticks are tapped on their cheeks/noses to get them to walk in whatever direction you want them to (like reins on a horse). After about a week of walking, the pig rarely has to be tapped, they know which why to walk just by the movements of the person walking it.
