One year check-up

Jude had his one year check-up day. He does not officially turn one until Saturday.

The check-up went great! The pedi was pleased with how Jude was doing. I told her that he still has sensitive skin, has night terrors, and has the Molluscum that Julia has. I know how to deal with all these issues (Julia has/had all of them), so that was not a big deal.

Jude did break out in a terrible diaper rash today. His poop was just so acidic from eating oranges yesterday that his poor bottom was just raw. He would scream bloody murder every time I tried to wipe his bottom. Yesterday was the first time he has ever had oranges. Pedi said that he is definitely allergic to them and not to give them to him again.

He is growing great. He weighed 22 lbs 13 ozs., which puts him in the 50th percentile. He was 30 inches long (65%) and his head measured 18 3/4 (85%). He dropped a lot on the length chart, according to my records he only grew 1 inch in 3 months. I don't think that is right and he was probably measured wrong. We will see when we go back in 3 months. His weight picked up, but then, he eats CONSTANTLY! He finally has a chubby face and cute chubby legs.

The pedi was impressed that he was speaking sentences already. She told me to just kept doing what I was doing.

Poor Jude did get two shots. He screamed for a few seconds, but then was all grins and smiles while he flirted with the doctor.

Showing her pig!

Julia showed a pig at the fair in the Open Show last night. She did AWESOME!!!! She has been practicing, but I still was a little worried about her getting scared when she got in the ring with all the other pigs. She proved me wrong and then some. She was not scared at ALL, she actually smiled the WHOLE time!!(The pig weighs 240+ pounds) Jerrod went out in the ring with her in case she got scared or needed help, but Julia kept telling him "Go away Daddy, I can do it myself!"!!!!

My little girl is growing up so fast!!!

Jude and Bapa waiting for the show to start.

Eating a snack before it was her turn to go and show.

She was WAY excited. She kept saying "I want to walk my pig NOW!".

Jude and Mimi waiting on Julia. (Jude was not happy he had to be held the whole time. He wanted down to crawl everywhere!)

In the holding pen waiting for her class to be called out. Getting last minute advice from Daddy and Uncle Bill.

FINALLY, time to show her pig. (Her pig is the red one.)

Smiling for the cameras.

She loved her hot pink whip Grandpa bought for her to show with!

All done showing and put the pig back in his pen.

Jude was glad we were done and could now see more of the fair!

Although her pig did not place in her class, the smile on Julia's face while showing made it all worthwhile! She is already talking about doing it again next year!

Fun to be a kid!

Life as a kid must be fun!

Jude saw his reflection in the dishwasher and started giving it kisses! He does the same thing to pictures!

Snack break!

Supervising the cleaning of the pig pens.

Riding the bouncy horse. Jude LOVES this thing!

Julia likes to take this basket and pretend that she is picking strawberries and then gives them out to everyone. The strawberries are actually little chocolate Kisses.

The faux hawk

Jude's hair is finally starting to grow. He has some long wisps on the top of his head. Occasionally, I spike them up into a faux hawk. Aunt Ninnie though this was so neat that she put gel on it so it would stay that way!

My cool dude!

Julia wanted to make her hair silly too, so she put a bow in her bangs.

The Tee-pee

Aunt Ninnie had a cardboard tee-pee at her place. Jude and Julia LOVED it!

Fireworks!

We went to Aunt Ninnie's (Jerrod's sister) on the Fourth to watch the fireworks. Surprisingly, both kids were still awake at 10pm to see them. Even more surprising, is that they both LOVED them.

Sitting on the roof of Aunt Ninnie's building, the kids in their pajamas, waiting for them to start.

Jude sat on my lap and I tried to get a picture of him.

"Hey mom, why you behind that black box?"

"I know you are back there..."

"Here I am!"

Visiting Aunt Ninnie

Over the Fourth of July, we visited Jerrod's sister Jen, or as the kids call her, Aunt Ninnie!

On the morning of the Fourth, we went to the aquarium.

Jude got a ride the whole way!

Julia actually touched a Starfish!

She thought the frog exhibit was neat.

Checking out the big sting ray!

The jellyfish were interesting too.

We made it through the aquarium in no time flat! She just runs from one tank to the next!

The blue tube!

When visiting Aunt Ninnie over the 4th, she got out a tunnel that her cat likes to play with. The kids loved it more than the cat did.

Jude especially loved chasing the cat through it!

Riding bikes

My kids love being outside and riding bikes.
