In the combine!

Drove up to my parent's house today with the kids. My brother was combining the wheat field. Jude went down for a nap, so Julia and I walked out to the field so I could show her the combine and explain what Uncle Bill was doing.

Shortly after we got out there, he had to unload the grain from the combine. I explained to Julia that he was cutting the seeds off the plants and then putting the seeds in the big wagon. I then told her that the seeds would be made into flour, like the flour we cook with all the time. I think she sort of understood.

Bill offered her a ride in the combine but she was scared because it was so big and loud. I knew once she got in the cab of the combine she would be fine, but she still did not want to go. I said I would ride with her, but she was still not having it. Finally, I just handed Julia up to Bill in the cab and climbed up myself. As soon as we sat down and shut the door, she was fine. After a minute or two of combining the wheat she was actually really enjoying herself!

We rode with Uncle Bill until he finished the field (he was almost done). Julia thought it was great.

I did not have my camera with me because I assumed that there was no way I was going to get her in the combine. I did snap a picture with my cell phone. It is poor quality and a bad picture because of the cramped cab, but you can see that she was enjoying herself!
